Getting Our Spark Back

Have you ever noticed feeling blah and unexcited about life?  We have so many things to be grateful for, yet we feel low in energy and listless—somewhat lost.  This feeling may hold on for a day or two, months or years.  It may feel like we are going through the motions of our life, lacking real joy, as if on automatic pilot.

Several factors may have contributed to smothering our spark, such as relationship challenges, fears, grief, illness, responsibilities and hardships of making a living.  Once we have felt this way long enough, we ask ourselves -- where did my passion go?  Where is my spark?  To observe what is happening within us and consciously asking this question changes everything!

Throughout our lives we may experience periods like this over and over again.  Each time, we can choose to continue without our spark or choose to find a way to get it back.  It really starts with a decision and a desire to get it back!

Recently, I experienced a repeat period of smothered spark in my life.  Along the way, I have learned about the power of affirmations and visualizations for manifesting what I wanted.  I had used it with great success!  Even in the midst of sharing and assisting others with guidance on their journey, there were a couple aspects in my life that I was allowing to smother my spark.  In the course of observing and celebrating other's successes, I recognized I had gotten away from following my own advice and what had been working.  In part, I allowed the busyness of the summer to interrupt my routine and the practices that kept my spark alive.

Wanting my spark back, what would I do now?

This is what I did:
Went on a little retreat and spent time by the water alone.
Spent time observing the creatures of nature.
Watched The Secret DVD again.
Asked the question again - What do I want?  It is so easy to get caught up in talking about what we don’t want and this just brings more of what we don’t want into our lives.
Revisited and updated my affirmations for what I want in my life.  For example: I am living my best life with passion and enthusiasm! I am abundant in health, wealth and happiness!
Back to repeating my affirmations in the morning and evening.
Back to visualization CDs with Jack Canfield.
Back to regular meditation practice, journaling and reading empowering books.
Immediately, as a result, my energy shifted and inspired ideas are flowing in daily.  My spark is back and I feel empowered again!

SHERRY BUIKEMA began learning about energy healing ways and developed a dream. It was a dream of a beautiful place in nature, where friends gather for meditation and self-healing. In 2012, with the help of her very supportive husband, One Place To Be was born.  October 2013 saw the first day retreat, with regular retreats going forward. In line with this dream, Sherry has completed her Reiki Masters and Reconnective Healing® training and is assisting others to reconnect with the fullness of their beings on all levels.
